Lost a pet in Oklahoma
Most lost pets are found close to home in the first days. Work in this order and keep going for several weeks.
- Search your street and the next two at dawn and dusk. Shake a treat bag and call quietly. Frightened cats often hide close by.
- Call the animal control office and shelter for your town and your county, and file a lost report with each. Go in person if you can, because descriptions over the phone are easy to miss.
- Call local vets. Someone may have brought your pet in.
- Ask the microchip company to confirm your phone number and address are current.
- Post a clear photo and where it was last seen on local lost and found pages and neighborhood apps.
- Put up signs at corners and vet offices with a large photo and your phone number.
- Check shelters again every day or two. Animals move through holding quickly.
The finder on the home page lists the offices closest to where your pet went missing. Whether a place holds strays for your area is estimated, so call.
